B4=Border stitches at the beginning and end of each row.
Please note: I am re knitting this pattern with B2 at each end because the pattern is anchored by K2. I think it looks better B2, pattern, B2. Cast On for the B2 is shown below:
Cast on:
Small Cloth: 26 or 33 ( B2 Border: 22 or 29 stitches )
Large Cloth: 40 stitches ( B2 Border: 36 or 43 stitches )
Back Scrubber: 19 stitches ( B2 Border: 22 stitches )
Knit a border of moss stitch or garter for 1"then begin pattern.
Pattern:
x7 +4
Row 1 (right side): B4, *k2, yo, ssk, yo, sl1-k2tog-psso, yo* end
with k2, yo, ssk, B4.
Row 2: B4, *k2, yo, k2tog, p3* end with k2, yo, k2tog, B4.
Row 3: B4, *k2, yo, ssk, k3* end with k2, yo, ssk, B4.
Row 4: B4, *k2, yo, k2tog, p3* end with k2, yo, k2tog, B4.
Repeat these 4 rows till a border distance from desired length of cloth.
Knit border rows and bind off.
Back Scrubber:
Knit pattern till 14-19" in length, knit border. Bind off all but 3 stitches. Transfer stitches to double point needles and knit an I-cord for 9", bind off and sew to other side of scrubber for handle. Knit I-cord of 9" for cast on edge handle.
