Supplies:
1 skein Peaches & Creme™ Article 930 Knitting Worsted ( solid or variegated)
1 Pair size 7-9 (US) single point needles
Tapestry needle or crochet hook
Scissors
Abbreviations:
PM: place marker- use if needed- this was done for a class on using stitch markers after they had made their own markers.
Pattern Stitch:
Row 1.:K5, PM, P1, *K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SSK, P3, PM,* end last repeat K2tog, YO,
K1, YO, SSK, P1, PM, K5.
Row 2:K5, PM, K1, P5, PM, *K3, P5,* end K1, PM, K5.
Row 3: K5, PM, P1, *K1, YO, Sl1-K2tog-PSSO, YO, K1, P3, PM,* end last repeat K1,
YO, Sl1-K2tog-PSSO, YO, K1, P1, PM, K5.
Row 4: K5, PM, K1, P5, PM, *K3, P5,* end K1, PM, K5.
Cast on: 41 stitches.
Border: Do 9 rows of border- garter stitch, moss stitch your choice.
Start Pattern, the K5 on each end is your border. Do rows 1 through 4 of the
pattern till a border distance from end. Do border and bind off.
This pattern reminds me of Pikake < chinese jasmine named after Princess Kaiulaini who as a child kept peacocks as pets> worn at Hawaiian Weddings for
brides and Grooms wear Maile < ME! giggle> a fragrant vine and Pikake.
I always work this cloth in white for that is the color of pikake, but I
think it will work out nicely in painted and ombre yarns.
